Plasters prepared from three different varieties of gypsum, viz. rock gypsum, marine salt works gypsum and precipitated gypsum, possess characteristic properties which suggest specific end uses. rock gypsum being quick setting can be used for structural purposes; it also meets with the requirements of surgical plaster according to B.P.C. plaster made from marine salt works gypsum is slightly lighter than the plaster from rock gypsum and can also be used for structural purposes. plaster prepared from precipitated gypsum being very light and constlier than others, is suitable only for preparing special moulds and decorative articles.en_US
